The Sea Silex was made by Hardy Bros Alnwick from 1914 to about 1959. This is an early model and was made circa 1914/15 it has, 3 rim control, bulbous handles mounted on circular receivers, and a solid line drum. Early models of the Sea Silex were stamped the “Silex” no 2.

South African Surf Reel made by Hardy Bros Alnwick from 1931 to 1939 in Sizes 6″, 7 1/2′ and 9″. Hardy Bros made only 9 reels in 9″ size. This one was made in 1931.

Made by Hardy Bros circa 1921/22 underneath the horseshoe plate on the rear of this reel is stamped Hardy “Tuna” Reel Hardy’s pat.32450/20. This is a reel that was in stock when Andreas pointed out to hardy bros that they were infringing his patent. It was relabeled the Fortuna Reel.
